Emanuel Elected to Serve as Chairman

Region XIII Education Service Center has announced that Mr. Roderick Emanuel, Superintendent of Schools in Bastrop ISD, has been elected by his peers to serve as the Regional Advisory Committee Chairman for the 2008-09 school year.  Duties of the chairman involve leading the meetings of the superintendent committee that gather to discuss current issues and to hear education professionals, including the commissioner of education and others, address pressing education and legislative related matters. 

The Regional Advisory Committee consists of the 60 superintendents and 19 charter school executives located in Region XIII. Mr. Emanuel received unanimous support of the Regional Advisory Committee membership upon his nomination to the post. 

Region XIII, one of 20 education service centers in Texas, serves school districts and charter schools in a 16 county central Texas area that includes approximately 330,000 public school students.
