Substitutes
Thank you so much for your interest in becoming a Substitute for Bastrop ISD!
To start the process to be considered for a Substitute Teacher:Complete an application (online, if available, or a paper application) All applications are active for one year from the date received. Substitute teachers are hired on an as needed basis depending on campus needs.
The human resources department reviews employment applications and selects substitutes for consideration. Those selected will be called in for a mandatory 2 hour Substitute Orientation.
In order to be eligible to substitute you must meet the following requirements:*Certified teacher (require copy of teaching certificate); OR
*Completed some college hours in an accredited university (provide copy of transcript); OR
*HS Graduate (provide copy of diploma or certificate)

Substitute Pay Rates:$70/day for a Non-Certified Substitute
$90/day for a Texas Certified Substitute
In long term substitute positions rates increase to either $75/$85/$100 (depending on the position), after the 10th consecutive day.
If you are selected to attend an Orientation, what to bring:1. Copies of your HS diploma, college diploma, or college transcripts.
2. Original proof of identity and employment eligibility (Social Security Card, Driver’s License, Passport, etc). At least 2 forms of ID are required.
What will be covered in the Orientation:1. District policy and procedure regarding substitutes
2. All required forms will be distributed and discussed
3. Fingerprinting/SB 9 Requirements
4. Picture will be taken for your Substitute Badge.
