Update on Design and Construction Projects

Schematic Designs Presentation and Discussion

Performing Arts Center Committee Chair Staci Gideon introduced members of the committee. Mrs. Gideon commented that serving on the committee was an enjoyable process and she is pleased with what she’s seeing.


Brad Pfluger presented an update on the districts’ bond projects. Mr. Pfluger reported that a site feasibility study was currently in progress for the new stadium. In addition, the Stadium Advisory Committee has been meeting and will be touring stadiums. He added that the committee will be discussing the pros and cons of a concrete versus a metal stadium.  


Mr. Pfluger reported that Performing Arts Committee has taken tours of other facilities. He explained that they are currently working on the site plan and the floor plan and the exterior and interior view. Mr. Pfluger reviewed the site plan and reported that the parking at the facility would meet city standards. He added that they are working on minimizing the noise from the nearby train. Mr. Pfluger commended the committees that are working on these two facilities.


Denise Shaw reviewed the proposed floor plan of the Performing Arts Center.

President Allen moved up Action Item G.


Consider Approval of the PAC (Performing Arts Center) Committee Recommendations on Schematic Designs for the New Bastrop ISD Performing Arts Center and Authorize the Architect to Proceed with the Design Development Phase

Rene Barrientos moved and Sophia Williams seconded to approve the PAC (Performing Arts Center) Committee Recommendations on Schematic Designs for the New Bastrop ISD Performing Arts Center and Authorize the Architect to Proceed with the Design Development Phase. President Allen asked the Board for comments or discussion. There being none, President Allen called for a vote. 

          MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY


President Allen thanked committee members for serving on this committee.


Mr. Pfluger reviewed the progress on the new Cedar Creek High School. He stated that he would bring the schematic design for the high school next month. Mr. Pfluger reported that they are continuing to work on the site plan, adding that it looks like the most effective place for the school will be in the center of the property.  He added that parking would be wrapped around the building and the bus drive would be located in the back of the school. Mr. Pfluger reviewed the floor plan for the new high school.


Mr. Pfluger asked the Board for input on the external appearance of the building. President Allen stated that he would like to see the blending of materials for the exterior of the building. Mr. Barrientos stated that he would like to avoid using stucco and CMU and use more brick and stone.


Mr. Barrientos inquired about cameras for the new school, and Mr. Gideon reported that there was money already budgeted for cameras for the school.
