ACE - Afterschool Community Education Program

Recently, Bastrop ISD was awarded the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant from TEA. The grant allows BISD to provide afterschool programs to economically disadvantaged and at-risk students at ten BISD campuses. Campuses included in the program are: Bastrop High School, Bastrop Middle School, Bastrop Intermediate School, Cedar Creek Middle School, Cedar Creek Intermediate School, Cedar Creek Elementary School, Bluebonnet Elementary School, Red Rock Elementary School, Lost Pines Elementary School and Mina Elementary School (Emile students can be bussed to Mina if they qualify). Programs will be open Monday through Friday afterschool. Each campus will open at times deemed appropriate based on campus need.

The goal of the program is to ensure that students graduate and are ready for college and/or career. The four components included in the program will be academic support; enrichment opportunities; parent support and education; and college/career preparation. This exciting new program, will provide students opportunities to participate in activities such as art, music, theatre, film-making, photography, science, cooking, homework support and tutoring. In addition, parents will have opportunities to work on their GED, ESL skills, and parenting skills through our Parent University.

Students and families who qualify for the program can enroll now. The program will be offered at no charge to families. Qualifying criteria is available by calling 512-308-1601 or your campus coordinator.
